Transmission overhaul is a matter of trust. Benefit from over 25 years of experience in the field of transmission overhaul for the VW Beetle (all model years), VW Kübel (181), VW Bus type T1 and T2, Porsche 356, Porsche 914 and Porsche 912 models. All transmissions with warranty without mileage limit.
More often there are problems with the gearbox. It leaks or makes noises, the gears jump out, it can only be shifted noisily or not at all. New gearboxes are no longer available for sale and those that are, e.g. from US production, are not covered by the warranty. We have completely stopped selling these gearboxes due to bad experiences. What is often not said or "forgotten" about these products is that ONLY the gearbox as such is offered. This means that with the swing axle gearboxes no differential and also no preset overhauled swing axle tube unit is included or even mounted. Especially with the axle tubes, it is very important to adjust them correctly to the differential during assembly. This is decisive for the subsequent handling of the vehicle and the service life of your new transmission. If the play is too tight, the axle cannot swing in and out, if the play is too large, the sliding blocks in the differential will rub up.
If the above problems occur, only an overhaul of your gearbox will help. Bring your gearbox to us or we will have it collected by a haulage company. You can also bring us the car and we will remove and reinstall it for you. We will also take the opportunity to check the clutch/pressure bearings and replace the engine oil seal. Your car can also be collected. Your gearbox will be overhauled by us and also cleaned/blasted and painted in the process. In the case of the swing axle transmission, the wheel bearings are also renewed and the brake anchor plates and axle tubes are painted. The axle tubes are completed, pre-assembled and adjusted. The whole unit comes ready for installation without filling with gear oil. (See picture)
Please make sure to drain the gearbox oil in case of shipment! It is best to drain it before dismantling.
The duration of the overhaul is currently four to six weeks. The warranty is 2 years without mileage limitation.
