On Volkswagen Beetle and Karmann Ghia models, the boot is unlocked by a lever in the glove compartment. If the cable is stiff, nothing is normally done, but you simply push the lever a little further until the entire release is bent.
Drill out the rivets to release the old unit and use blind rivets (possibly with an extra washer) to secure the new release. Immediately check that the outer casing is not cracked or broken and that the inner cable is not twisted in the outer casing. If necessary, order these cables and the plastic handle, which is not included in the scope of delivery, separately (see item 3962 ).
